Late this evening Monday 1 June the front page of the Times was revealed on social media and on Newsnight stating that IDS is furious as Cameron has ruled out cuts to Child Benefit and Child Tax Credits as part of the £12 billion welfare cuts to be made in the first two years of this parliament.
This is hogwash and I can only assume some sort of attempt to paint Cameron as having a heart with IDS being the heartless bastard pantomime villain again in this parliament as he was in the last. There is even a quote from DWP saying this is the first we have heard of this, blah, blah, blah!
On the BBC Daily Politics show on welfare on 5 May 2015 Iain Duncan Smith says that Child Benefit and Child Tax Credits will be frozen in the first two years and said that had already been decided and announced which it had.
…AND he also said there would be no cuts to Child Benefit and Child Tax Credits in the first two years as well!! Oh dear he is not playing the pantomime villain very well is he…oh yes he is…oh no he’s not…
This is all caught on video here and skip through to 31 minutes in and all of the above is confirmed by 32 minutes in.
In other words the Times front page story is sheer contrived bovine anal secretions and once again the myth and game playing over welfare – and note well the £12 bn cuts – yes those ethereal ones are to welfare and not to welfare benefits as I said here.
Just in case you need a dartboard reader here’s a picture of him with his former partner in crime Steve Webb who by the look on his face knows full well that IDS is telling porkies again
